This curated route distills three icons of South America into a single, light-driven itinerary. We begin beside the immense curtain of Iguaçu Falls, where a carefully timed full moon session transforms the cascades into silver ribbons. A flight south takes us to the Patagonian steppe and the face of Perito Moreno Glacier, alive with the crack and splash of calving ice. Crossing into Chile, we enter Torres del Paine to chase first light on the Cuernos, reflections in still lakes, and the granite spires of the Paine massif. The journey is built around dawn starts, late finishes, and the quiet patience of true landscape photography.
Why I created this expedition
We arrive at the edge of the jungle where the Iguazú River shatters into countless cascades, each one a study in motion and vapour. The lower and upper circuits lace through the spray, giving us first a face-to-face encounter with the falling water and then a commanding perspective from above. On that first full evening, the park closes and we slip back in. With the full moon high, the cataracts become pale streaks; the workshop focuses on long exposures and the delicate balance of ambient light.
The frame shifts. A flight south and the green jungle gives way to pale, wind-scoured steppe. At Perito Moreno Glacier we move between the boardwalks, composing the crumbling face, then board a small boat to photograph the ice from water level, its crevices glowing turquoise as a block calves and sends up a plume of white.
Across the border, Torres del Paine gathers its signature peaks. Pre-dawn at Lago Pehoe, the Cuernos catch first light and double in the lake. We linger, swapping between wide and long lenses. Later, we walk to Salto Grande and frame the dead trees that stand sentinel in front of the Paine massif. At day’s end, the wind drops, the water stills, and the granite needles turn gold. The camera becomes an extension of a quiet way of seeing—nothing forced, only found.
